Haven't got to see kick ass yet! But i agree with you on this one, been a film geek myself. The controversy about the 12 year old girl been beaten, but like you say theres much worse things going on in the world today and end of the day this film is pure fiction.

Are Combat Sports Bad?

My favorite sport ever has got to be boxing! I'm a very big fan of the fight game, i tend to idolize people such as Roberto Duran, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather jr, etc, i've always been a boxing fan since i was little boy, for that matter a big fan of combat sports in general such as UFC.

I've never really thought in depth of how boxing and other combat sports can be bad because myself being a fight fan see boxing as been a 'sweet science'. But since doing this topic i started to think these are realistically the only sports were you can legally get killed!!! On that fact alone i believe it safe to see why critics believe these sports are bad.

A fight that sticks out in mind for you who are not to fimiliar with boxing was a fight between Nigel Benn and Gerald McClellan in 1995. The fight ended in total tragedy, Benn knocked out McClellan in round 10, soon after the fight Gerlad McClellan collapsed and was rushed to hospital. McClellan was left with devestating brain damage. McClellan lost to ability to walk, he is now bling and deaf, and his short term memory was also effected. This is one of the tragic stories which has occured in boxing. Fights like these have gave critics the right to put boxing into the "bad" pile.

Computer games!

Computer games! Love playing them, when i was a little younger i'd buy a new game and spend hours or better yet the whole day and night playing them trying to get on the the next level, or trying my best to complete the game.

So what is it about computer games that can make them fall under the "being bad" category, well to me this is similar to my blog on "bad cinema". The view that voilent games can influnece us into becoming voilent ourselves. I know theres alot what can be said on this topic, both for and agains't that computer games are good or bad.

Offcorse everybody knows not everybody who plays voilent computer games are going to result to voilence because in reality the majority of people who play voilent computer games dont. However its the ones that do, that make an impact and then people start question how bad computer games really are. I remember many moons ago when my uncle had a banned game for the playstation one it was called Thrill Kill and to be honest it was a pretty disturbing game.

Famous cases that have made into the headlines of when computing playing turns tragic, is the famous case of the banned game Manhunt. Although i have never played the game manhunt, i did abit of research on the game and found out about the plot, which is a murderer becomes the victim of mad mans gruesome film and the only way to say alive is to kill. I also read reviews on the game and the reviews had the following to say about the game http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/action/manhunt/review.html

Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold who commited the columbine high school massacre who had obbessions with the computer game Doom. Which is also a voilent shooting game which is based brutal killing. Also in 2004 a teenage boy lured his friend into a park and brutally murdered him, the victims parents blamed the game "Manhunt". These are a few example of what computer game obsession can result in.

Blame it on the alcohol!!!!

MM i love alcohol!!! What else is better than a cheeky cold Carling dash on a nice hot day :) or maybe more on a night out. I have been now for been a fan of alcohol i mean after all i am a student (well that's my excuse)

On a serious note though i can totally see why alcohol can come under the "Being Bad" category, i mean come on its the most used drug of the world! And yes people alcohol is a drug, believe it or not. I mean most people like getting drunk on weekends and I'm one of those people too! Its just a laugh to go out and not think about studying/work/kids etc etc. But their are serious health risk involve if your drinking habits become a regular thing.

Research shows that drinking too much alcohol can lead you to mouth cancer and serious liver and kidney problems. Basically a whole range of different problems which i will allow you to view for yourself..... http://ezinearticles.com/?Health-Risks-In-Alcohol-Abuse&id=301753

I like to personally consider myself an individual who tends to be a fun person when a little tipsy (more fun when i've had a drink so i've heard ) However many other people when they have alcohol in their system tend to be a little more agressive which can result in tragic consequences. Many fights occur everyweekend i would imagine in town and i could bet that 99% of those fights are alcohol related.
I know many people also such as a few of my friends who will avoid going out on night outs due to the fear of trouble arising due to alcohol.

I think the problem with todays society is, many people really dont see the health risks associated with consuming too much alcohol, it is very dangerous when you dont know your limits. It has be known also when people get excitied for a night out and end up getting themselves in to a paraletic drunken vulnerable state. This is when "BAD", or better yet tragic things occur. for example deaths, rapes, etc.

I'm going to end this blog now because i got to go to work... but just remember next time your on a night out (i'm trying not to sound like a tv advert now to lol) but know your limits because when your drunk thats when your most vulnerable.

Bad Cinema!

This is a topic that interests me alot due to the fact i'm a movie geek! I love films and always have done and probally always will do. I missed the lecture when my class got to view the film Kids, however i still have a strong view on the concept of "Bad Cinema".

The theory that films play a fundamental role in leading individuals to a life of crime is a topic that causes much controversy. I remember watching a tv doucumentry on the Columbine high school massacre which was a tragic event which occured in 1999. What struck me the most was watching the cctv footage from that tragic event. Teenage gun man Eric Harris was walking through the school canteen armed with a rifle, and he was dressed like Woody Harrelson! white t shirt, gun vest, just like the opening scene from the film Natural Born Killers! Then i began to ask the question was this massacre that was occuring that took the life of 15 people that day and then injured 24, a result of two teenage boys been influenced by the film natural born killers. The characters in the film Mickey and Mallory Knox are portrayed like somewhat heroes but in fact are nothing more than stone cold killers.

More recently also The Virginia Tech Massacre when Seung-Hui Cho took the life of 33 people including himself. A view that struck me was before Seung Hui Cho decided to take his life he was making videos of himself gimmicking the character from the movie Old Boy.

Old boy is a Japanese movie which i must say struck me when i watched it, due to the fact the film is ultra voilent, It tells the story of a invidual who is imprisoned for 15 years and then releashed and left with 5 days in otder to find his captor. The film is dominated with voilence. Following the tragic Virginia tech massacre the film Old boy was shown alot in the media, been blamed for the massacre at virginia tech.

Many films have became a source of blame for crimes. The tragic murder of Jamie Bulger in 1993 had the theory that the two killers before they abducted baby james, watched the film Childs Play.

I believe however although films have been a source of criticism when crimes are commited there is obviously more to blame than just cinema. I personally all my life have watched many voilent films such as the work of Quentin Tarantino, Stanley Kurbrick and Martin Scorsese, and i have never led a life of voilence so i do believe that cinema alone cannot be blamed for such crimes, however they can be a influence. I believe this is due to the fact the way villians in movies are
glamorized.

Tattoos!!!!!!

http://www.craveonline.com/lifestyle/article/kat-von-d-talks-tattoos-95997

Tattoos been bad? Personally i dont see why people would class getting a tattoo or making your body into a gallery of art as bad. I personally think tattoos are fine, i have one myself and believe majority of people have them to represent something in their life. I understand many religions see it as being deviant but then i think well what about the individuals who have religios tattoos to feel protected or closer to God? I believe that in the society which we live in today we are sourrounded by sterotypes sadly, for example if a person saw a individual with many tattoos that person looking with sterotype that person in a negative way. I know not everybody is like this but a large amout on people in society these days are, but the people who sterotype fail to realise that the individual who supports having lots of tattoos probally has those tattoos because everyone of their tattoos has a meaning behinde it which is special to that person.

The Drugs Dont Work!

Drugs! mm theres alot that could be said about this topic, but i'l try not to bore you and just give you a slight view of my own personal feeling towards drugs.

Who would you class a been a drug user? Your regular Saturday night binge drinkers, (yes, alcohol is a drug) your weed smokers or your cocaine and heroin users? Well the truth is all the above I've mentioned are drugs and all are harmful so i guess it makes me a drug user to ( i like to get drunk :)

I do believe however cocaine and heroin abusers are more of a threat of ended up in a serious health condition or worse than your occasional binge drinker.

I believe people turn to drugs for many different reasons, and i admit i have tried marijuana before and some of my friends still do! I dont however class them as drug users even though i believe cannabis is a class B drug or something like that :S This is perhaps because i perhaps think cannabis is less harmful than something such as heroin even though cannabis has been proven to have bad side effects to! Probally my limited way of thinking :|

I personally dont do drugs out of choice of my own. I believe drugs dont work and sooner or later, the side effects of drugs will catch up with you, and its been proven by many stories covered in the media for example Actor Colin farrells battle with drugs along with other celebrities such as Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse.

Racism!

Racism.... Perhaps one the most controversial topic that gets discussed. So where do i start with this blog about racism? Well i will start by saying that it is definately WRONG! The reason i believe its wrong is because how can you possibly hate and judge a human being by their faith or color of their skin?

Lets face it, people of Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam and Hinduism, Athiests, all have good people in their faith they also have bad people. This automatically does not mean that the bad people who represents these faiths gives people the right to form a massive hatred towards their faith and people. REMEMBER its just one individual! I dont believe generalisations should be made to EVERYONE within that faith, and just to judge someone by their faith is ignorant.

Been Asian growing up i encountered a small amount of racism i believe its something everybody goes through at one point in your life, if your white black chinese etc. Growing up however i was thaught to respect others and not to be rude or igronant. Thats why i believe education and up bringing is fundumental in over coming racism. If we have more people becoming been socialised correctly and staying in school and becoming open minded we will have less rascism. Although i know its not as simple as that i know its something that could make a diffrence.

Well theres my deep thought for the day :) i'd thought i'd leave this blog with a quote from a favourite film of mine.... "Hate is baggage. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time. Its just not worth it."

Comment on Emmas blog

Could't agree with you more there emma, "if you want to cheat don't be in a realtionship". Whats the point of been in a relatioship if your going to cheat, it defeats the whole idea of been in the relationship in the first place.

Masturbation :)

Just thought i'd upload the Kim Kardashian pic to put me in the mood seen as were on the topic of masturbation :) lol haha jk.

Well well isn't this a topic that gets everybody excited. I was thinking to what extent can "beating the meat" be classed as "being bad". I mean come on the majority of people do it, well i think the majority of us have, and it is a natural thing. But why does it become frowned upon?

I believe there are many reasons why masturbation gets frowned upon. From my own personal view i believe religion pays a key role into putting masturbation into the "bad" category, and lets face it masturbation is something you should do in your own private time, i mean imagine going out in public and seeing some people masturbating lol weird and yuck! Anyways lol back on to my point about religion. Christianity and most monotheist religions view masturbation as being a form of adultery, and in most monotheist religions your supposed to be "pure" and not have these lustful thoughts.

I personally dont see the problem in masturbation, i mean i know this is a topic that arises many different responses but i wouldn't go as far as saying its commiting adultery but that just my opinion, i think masturbation is a natural thing to do. I wouldn't go as far as to say its just like committing adultery because come on lets be fair having a sexual thought about someone and then going home to jack off about it aint half as bad as actually taking the person home with you!

Bandits, Heroes or Villiains? :)

Bandits, Heroes or Villains.

Bandits, heroes or villains? Mmm a question to me i think could gain many different different answers. I could see why people would see Robin hood as a hero due to the fact he stole from the rich to give to the poor. Therefore Robin hood would be seen as a hero because he comes from same society in which he steals for come from, many people would call him "one of their own". However when talking about people such as Jesse James and Bonnie and Clyed i don't personally see how these figures can be seen as "heroes" due to the fact they were murderers. However i can see how they have become some what idolized. Anyone ever seen the movie Natural born killers? Classic example of a Bonnie and Clyed tale. A married couple who are glamorized for murders and robberies.

Liar, Liar!

Sometimes telling a lie is a good thing to in order protect someone? Well i do believe that honesty is the best policy, and eventually the truth does always come out.

I do however believe in protecting the ones that love from harm. So here i am rattling my brains, thinking is telling a big fat lie a good thing? Well from personal experiences i gained the answers yes and no! For example if i saw my bestfriends girlfriend with another a fella, would i tell him? i came up with the answer HELL YES! But been the person i am, (i dont want to sound to cheesy either) lol i wouldn't want to hurt my mates feelings. So lying in general under circumstances can be one very difficult thing to do.

Nevertheless i know for the benefit of my friend he should know. I believe though that everybody does lie at some point in their life. i have found though that the reaons for this vary, for example some people will do it to gain attention, others will do it to protect themselves and others from harm, and some will just do it because their bored! My overall view though to 'is telling a lie a good thing?' Okay so looking through a wider view, my answer is i can see the point at times in telling lyings, the most personal view is to protect someone. But how long can you keep telling a lie, untill evnetually the truth will come out and be more hurtfull then ever. So been honest from the start will help you have more time to solve the problem, however sometimes you have to lie in order to protect. :)

Smoking for Glamour!

After attending the lecture on smoking... i started to ask myself alot of questionns in regards to smoking. One of the questions i asked myself.. is why do people smoke? and what attracts them to smoking. Been a former smoker myself i started out by asking these questions to myself, the answers i came across was pressure from friends. Many of my friends were smoking before me and i admitt i used to look and think smoking looks cool! So then i began to smoke and before i knew it i was hooked! Soon after i became addicted to smoking i did used to think that my apperance looked cool, standing there sparking up a cigarette looked cool to me. One of the reasons i thought this was because the media representation of smoking. Films like Die Hard, Pulp Fiction etc glamorizes smoking. Smoking cigarettes on and off for five years and thinkinhg i looked "cool" and the psychology of thinking that oh i've had a stressful day i need a cigarette, the hard reality of smoking hit me. On a summer day out with friends we decided to play football for old times sake the idea seemed great until we actually started to play and thats when it hit me. At a younger age i was very athetlic and had fitness but on this day i didn't even last a minute (no exaggaration) This is when i realised it wasn't worth it. The health hazards and the effects made me think i dont think my risking my health in the order to look "cool" is worth it. I put the cigarettes down and to my surprise for good. Soon after quiting smoking i also realised that it didn't look "cool"
