Are Combat Sports Bad?

My favorite sport ever has got to be boxing! I'm a very big fan of the fight game, i tend to idolize people such as Roberto Duran, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather jr, etc, i've always been a boxing fan since i was little boy, for that matter a big fan of combat sports in general such as UFC.

I've never really thought in depth of how boxing and other combat sports can be bad because myself being a fight fan see boxing as been a 'sweet science'. But since doing this topic i started to think these are realistically the only sports were you can legally get killed!!! On that fact alone i believe it safe to see why critics believe these sports are bad.

A fight that sticks out in mind for you who are not to fimiliar with boxing was a fight between Nigel Benn and Gerald McClellan in 1995. The fight ended in total tragedy, Benn knocked out McClellan in round 10, soon after the fight Gerlad McClellan collapsed and was rushed to hospital. McClellan was left with devestating brain damage. McClellan lost to ability to walk, he is now bling and deaf, and his short term memory was also effected. This is one of the tragic stories which has occured in boxing. Fights like these have gave critics the right to put boxing into the "bad" pile.
